SEATTLE, Washington - Oct. 9, 2026 - American Seafoods has awarded $75,000 through its Community Partnership Program to 21 organizations serving coastal and rural Alaska. The awards were finalized at the program's semi - annual review meeting on Oct.1.

The program divides its funding among six regions, each represented by a Community Partnership Program member who lives and works in their represented community. Community Partnership Program board members review the applications from their own area and decide where the money goes. This year's awards reached communities in the Lower Yukon, the Lower Kuskokwim, Bristol Bay, Kodiak Island, the Aleutian and Pribilof Islands, and the western Alaska Peninsula.

"The best part of this program is that the decisions get made close to home. The people reviewing these applications live in these regions. We know the people, we know the community needs, and we get to put the money where we can see it working." Wanetta Ayers, Executive Director of Southwest Alaska Municipal Conference and Community Partnership Program member.

The largest award, $12,500, went to the Bristol Bay Native Association Regional Food Bank in Dillingham for food and supplies sent to clients throughout Bristol Bay. Other grants are paying to get a Native Youth Olympics team from Mekoryuk to the NYO Games, repair boardwalks in Chefornak, help keep the Kodiak Women's Resource and Crisis Center Shelter running, and to stock healthy snacks at the Eek School. Awards ranged from $1,000 to $12,500. “This is one of the best things we do as a company. Every year these applications remind us how much people in these communities are already doing for each other, with very little fanfare and a lot of hard work. We are happy to be a part of it." said Inge Andreassen, President of American Seafoods.

Most recipients are combining the grant with other support, from tribal councils and city governments to regional air carriers, state nutrition programs and private foundations.
